Representing performing and visual arts in Northwest Colorado, Yampa Valley Arts showcases major artists’ works, stunning imagery, articles on local artists and information on art venues and exhibitions on display around the Yampa Valley.

Deborah Olsen

Deborah is an award-winning writer, editor, publisher, and photojournalist with more than 35 years of experience in Steamboat Springs. A journalism and English graduate of the University of New Mexico, she has earned honors from the Associated Press, Colorado Press Association, and U.S. Ski Team. Since acquiring Steamboat Publications in 2004, she has grown it into Ski Town Media, Northwest Colorado’s leading locally owned media company while remaining deeply engaged in community leadership and service.

Sophie Dingle

Sophie moved to Colorado to attend the University of Denver, earning a communications degree in 2008. After living in New York City and spending seven years abroad in Italy, Scotland, and England with her husband’s professional hockey career, she returned to Steamboat Springs to raise their two sons. A longtime freelance writer, Sophie now serves as editor at Ski Town Media. When she’s not working, she enjoys reading, hiking with her lab, and skiing.

John brings more than 15 years of advertising and marketing experience. He began his career in New York City with leading consumer lifestyle magazines before moving to Colorado in 2011, where he helped businesses grow through integrated media campaigns and radio advertising. Now based in Steamboat Springs, John is passionate about supporting local businesses and embracing the mountain lifestyle through skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, and creative woodworking projects.

Melissa VanArsdale

Melissa VanArsdale is the Art Director at Ski Town Media, bringing decades of graphic design experience. Her career began in Boulder with the Brewers Association and Epic Design before moving to Steamboat Springs in 1999. She has worked with national organizations, including the U.S. Coast Guard, and numerous local businesses. Since 2015, Melissa has led creative design efforts at Ski Town Media. Outside of work, she enjoys the outdoors, flying with her father, and visiting her children in Utah.

Kenny recently relocated to the Yampa Valley after serving as Marketing Manager for the UW–Whitewater’s dining services, where he promoted events, special programs, and student engagement initiatives. Passionate about connecting people through stories and experiences, he is excited to help strengthen community connections in Northwest Colorado. Outside of work, Kenny enjoys hiking, attending First Friday Artwalks, playing volleyball, and learning to ski.

Skylar is a writer and storyteller with a passion for language, community, and meaningful narratives. A 2021 graduate of Elon University, she spent several years freelancing before joining Ski Town Media. Originally from Steamboat Springs, she returned to the Yampa Valley after time in Colorado and Spain, bringing a deep appreciation for place and people to her work. Outside of writing, Skylar enjoys skiing, hiking, camping, reading, and exploring Routt County with friends and family.
